locust eating a mouse

Check out this fantastic picture of a locust eating a mouse. This long dead duo is preserved and is exhibit on display at the Natural History Museum, London

Apparently the subjects  were preserved  more than one hundred years ago and was collected by Reverend M H Reid in the Congo.

One could speculate that the mouse was already dead before the locust found it, other wise that was a super-insect effort from the hungry locust.

One can't help but wonder if this pairing was a set up from by the good Reverend as it seems to good to be true and too neatly posed. What do you think?
