Alligator bites off arm

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

An alligator, rumoured to be least three metres in length, lunged at a teenager swimming in a river and bit off the teen's right arm below the elbow.

Kaleb Langdale, 17, amazing survived the encounter on Monday in the Caloosahatchee River, west of Lake Okeechobee, in Florida.

I wonder if this guy can watch Star Wars ever again.
Wildlife officers who caught and killed the alligator retrieved the arm from within the alligator, but doctors were unable to reattach it as it the bones had been broken beyond repair and as you might have expected, partly digested. Washing it with sodium percarbonate didn't help much either.

Check out the time a vet's arm got eaten by a croc but was re-attached!
