Turducken of the ocean?

You've heard of a turducken right - a meal where a chicken is placed inside a duck which is placed inside a turkey and then roasted.

Here's the turduken of the ocean - an octopus inside the mouth of a yellow eye rock fish which was eaten by a lingcod...

Seal versus Octopus battle on the high sea!

 Battle between a hungry seal and frantic octopus!

As reported by NZ Herald:

"A Kaikoura kayaking guide has captured a life-and-death battle between a hungry fur seal and an octopus.

Kaikoura Kayaks guide Conner Stapley was out with three tourists in South Bay yesterday, when he came across the epic battle.

He noticed thrashing on the surface of the water, and soon realised it was from a big male seal attacking the octopus.

The kayakers were soon spectators in a grisly battle as the octopus tried, and failed, to avoid becoming lunch."

Sometimes Octopus do win the good fight - here's one that managed to nab a seagull.

Octopus eating a seagul

I'd like to think the Octopus was laying in way amongst the murky depths before it rose up and snatched this unsuspecting seagull and took it back from whence it came like some kind of B movie.

The picture was taken by Ginger Morneau of Langford, a suburb of Victoria, British Columbia. it case it wasn't clear, it's an octopus eating a bird.

Taking snaps of the battle between the beasts while out on a run, she noted the seagul was ' was fighting actively' the octopus as she came across the two. She had  time for some quick snapping before the bird was taken to the depths below and eaten by the probably well pleased octopus. Time then to read this guide on making good homebrew.

Hungry starfish eating an Octopus

When starfish go blue (on octopus)

I thought it would have been the other way around and this poor octopus would be eating the Starfish but the caption that comes the photo reads:

"her job of guarding her eggs is finished; her emaciated body is devoured by a swarm of sunstars".

So the circle of life in action on the sea floor as the octopus just apparently gives up,

Tastes like fish?

Sunstars, starfish, it makes for an unexpected picture.

Look at that eye staring at you.

Is it a look of 'laying back, thinking of England'? It actually looks like a dead eye, I suspect the octotpus died a natural death and then the Starfish have scavenged it for a meal.

What else do Starfish eat? Cockle anyone?

Here's a star fish in captivity that's been fed.

And just to cap off, this starfish caught himself a fish! His chips got soggy however...
