A brave leopard catches and eats a giant python!

This is something I've not seen before, a leopard eating an African Rock Python! And a massively large python at that!

Obviously the leopard can move a bit faster than the snake so it would seem he had the advantage but we can only imagine the tussle that went into bringing the snake down.

Perhaps the snake had died of natural causes?

It was suggested that this photo was taken in Yala National Park, Sir Lankia, however the snake appears to be an African python.

Leopards are actually known to be quite tough buggers - they can kill crocodiles with a bit of effort! And whatever you do, never try and corner a leopard, they will tear your scalp off!

Part of an Indian man's scalp was ripped off by a wild leopard after it panicked and attacked four people when it wandered into a residential area in India.

They say if you mess with the bull, you're gonna get the horns..

The fully-grown leopard set upon the group when it walked into a house in a busy neighbourhood of Guwahati, a large city in north-east India.

The gentleman above is apparently a cook named Hari, whose scalp was severely cut as he tried to fend off the leopard. That man deserves a beer. Maybe he should brew his own beer. 

Apparently a quick witted fellow managed to shut the sharp clawed leopard inside the house before forest officials came to sedate the beast.

Hari was taken to hospital for injuries to his head and face, while the leopard was taken to a zoo for observation. "We believe the cat strayed into the area from a nearby hillock, maybe in search of food," a forest department official said.

So not really the case of a leopard eating a man but more of a scared animal lashing out. Perhaps a lesson there for all of us.

Leopards are usually much more clever - here's one from Africa that's put an impala in a tree for eating later.

I have no what the context of this picture is but it appears to be three dudes failing in their efforts to contain a leopard. Presumably they were trying to sedate him to remove him from an area where humans where, instead they bumbled and let the leopard attack and eat the head of one of their crew.

I bet he had a sore head in the morning and probably needed some stiches after the leopard had clawed his back once or twice! Imagine the terror that is probably going though the man's head (apart from teeth). The leopard probably isn't two happy about being hunted down by these three idiots either.

Impala put in a tree by a leopard for later

Kiwiblog's DPF has been having a holiday in Africa - here's a cool picture he took of an impala having a sleep in a tree. How cute!

It's not actually,  the baby impala is dead and was put in the tree by a leopard for safe keeping so it could come back for a feed later on. How clever!

The photo was taken in Chobe National Park in Botswana.

While the leopard that caught this impala seems to be pretty smart, I'm more impressed with this leopard that took down a crocodile...

Here's a picture of a pretty stressed out Leopard attacking an Indian gentleman.

It was reported that this leopard mauled 11 people in a confrontation with local Indian villagers.

Despite some frentic efforts to escape from the humans, the leopard eventually died of knife wounds after being captured.

Humane much?

That's the tragedy of mankind being so fricking awesome - as we begin to over populate and what not, we encroach on the beasts who would normally leave us alone - and thus creatures like leopards generally would rather take on crocodiles  than say jump on the back of a human, cause no matter how delicious human liver might be (I understand if you add fava beans and enjoy it with a nice Cianti, it's a very pleasant meal), there's gonna be a whole angry Indian village that's gonna cut you down.

Literally.

Leopard takes down a crocodile

What's with the crocodiles in Kruger National Park? Are they pussies? Remember the Battle of Kruger where they lost? Check out these photos of a leopard dragging a crocodile from a river and finishing off on land.

The photographs were taken by Hal Brindley, a professional American wildlife photographer, who was supposed to be taking pictures of hippotami from inside his car in the Kruger National Park. A 

titanic wrestle followed.  The leopard  was able to drag the crocodile from the water to the land.

With the crocodile snapping its jaws furiously, the two animals continued to wrestle. Despite the crocodile's huge weight and strength, the leopard had the upper hand catching its prey by the throat. The following pictures show how the croc was subdued, suffocated and then dragged off by the leopard for a well earned lunch!

Victory!

The leopard may have some crocodile meat to eat today but sometimes crododiles do win. Check out when this crocodile bit off a vet's arm or where one got a shark!

I dunno, maybe the Sheena the Leopard was sizing up how good the rat would be to eat instead? How about a lick to taste?
